Finland is not only one of the world’s most fertile grounds for heavy metal; it is also a country deeply engaged in the pursuit of national identity—encouraging creative explorations of history. The Moomins that live in the Finnish forests are not hippos, but trolls from Nordic mythology.

Mythology, epic, heavy metal?
Chthonic, an epic metal band that has released nine heavy metal albums in Taiwan and built its own mythology from Taiwanese history. While it is unlikely that the next album will feature band photos set against icy, snow-covered landscapes, a land so steeped in literary epics does seem like a fitting place to encounter Chthonic.

And beyond the encounter, there should also be something limited.
