恁爸是台灣人、恁祖媽是台灣人

Taiwanese pronunciation: lín-pā sī Tâi-uân-lâng, lín-tsóo-má sī Tâi-uân-lâng

Meaning: “I’m Taiwanese.”
Here, 恁爸 (lín-pā) is a bold masculine first-person expression, while 恁祖媽 (lín-tsóo-má) is its feminine counterpart. Neither literally refers to one’s father or grandmother; both convey a defiant, swaggering tone.

The Story of “恁爸、恁祖媽”

Around 2008, the CiongZo crew launched the “恁爸是台灣人” and “恁祖媽是台灣人” series. The bold, confrontational spirit of these Taiwanese expressions received an enthusiastic response.

The Story Behind the “Taiwan Victory” Typeface

The typeface used in this series originated from CHTHONIC’s 2015 “Defend the Nation” concert at Freedom Square and the 2019 “Taiwan Victory” concert at Ketagalan Boulevard. The sturdy hexagonal “Tai” shield and the extended lettering convey a powerful, hard-edged visual style.

The typeface was later used in the “恁爸、恁祖媽是台灣人” and “Taiwan Army” series, giving the designs an even more commanding presence.

The Story of CiongZo and Taiwanese

The CiongZo crew loves listening to Taiwanese songs, watching Taiwanese-language films, and exploring Taiwanese humor (tshiò-khue). Not simply because Taiwanese is our language, but because it represents an irreplaceable part of the Taiwanese spirit and voice.
